Joshua Turyatemba

Executive Director

Mr. Turyatemba holds a Bachelors Degree in Mass Communication (Hons. MUK ). He has also successfully completed 2 courses leading to award of certificates of mastery offered by HarvardUniversity (Human Health and Global Environmental Change) and MIT (The Challenges of Global Poverty) He also holds certificates in Climate Change Reporting facilitated by (Oxfam/Panos) and Broadcast Journalism (London University/MUK).  As well as certificates in NGO leadership and Fundraising.

Previously ,he has worked as a Project Officer at Global Rights Alert for the Good Governance and Enhancing Citizen Participation project in partnership with Inter Religious Council of Uganda (funded by GFHR) and Trans-Boundary Natural Resources Governance Program (funded by IUCN-NL). Consultant- HCP/JHUCCP VHT Radio Distance Learning program (funded by USAID). Consultant- Student Computer Arts Society (SCAS Bulgaria), HIV/Aids E-Based manual development project (funded by EU Commission). Correspondent- Uganda Radio Network (funded by IWPR). 

He has also undertaken intensive research projects in the area of carbon trading as well as academic area within the Department of Mass Communication (MUK) and The Hansard (Parliament of Uganda). Mr. Turyatemba has also undertaken several communication and education consultancies for Ministry of Water and Environment, National Environmental Management Authority  and the Uganda Electoral Commission.

Tayebwa Golden Bells

Head of Program- Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change

Golden has ten years of experience in the nonprofit sector. He holds a Master’s degree in Economic Studies (Economics Major) from the University of New England in Australia and a Bachelor’s Degree in Community Forestry from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda. He holds certificates in Tropical Ecology and Conservation from Tropical Biology Association, Cambridge University (UK) and Social Economic Surveys from Indiana University (USA).  He has professional experience in the fields of Forestry, Environment, Natural Resource Management, Climate Change, Agriculture, Agribusiness development, Rural Finance and Risk Management, Banking and Finance, Commodity Markets, Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management, Environment and Natural Resource Economics, Benefit-Cost Analysis, Development Economics and Sustainable Development.

He has worked for Vredeseilanden (VECO) East Africa, Uganda Program as a Sustainable Agricultural Chain Development Officer where he was involved in facilitating processes to develop sustainable access to lucrative markets for small scale farmers through the development of sustainable agricultural market chains. Prior to coming to VECO East Africa, Golden served as a Teaching and Research Assistant at Makerere University Faculty of Forestry and Nature Conservation. He also worked as a Research Assistant at Enviro-Impact and Management Consults. Previous work also includes providing agricultural advisory services to farmers, leading public and private clients on agronomic crops and trees and setting up technology demonstrations centres for these enterprises for the District Local Governments under the National Agricultural Advisory Services. He has also worked as an intern with National Forestry Resources Research Institute and National Agricultural Research Organization to strengthen agricultural research and extension methodologies and skills through training farmers and community leaders. 

Golden has in-depth knowledge and experience in working with Youth and Women programs, Food Security and Market Access programs, is proficient in gender issues, HIV/AIDS, and Monitoring and Evaluation. He has profound understanding of agri-business development with specific reference to producer-buyer linkages and SME management. In-depth knowledge in the functioning of an economic sustainable agricultural chain from production to consumption. Practical skills in facilitating farmer understanding and application of Farming As a Business, Making Markets Work for the Poor, LINK, & Inclusive Modern Market approaches. Particular skills in agri-business production planning and management. Experience and skills in facilitating development of sustainable agriculture supply chains with actors. Technical guidance on aspects of business models appraisal, business planning, producer-SMEs linkages, business and market services, and SME management. Good understanding of local, national and regional supply chain dynamics and actors.


Dean Tashobya

Sustainability Consultant

Dean is a Chemist and an Environmental scientist. He has vast experience in life cycle thinking approach applications - Sustainable chemistry, green fiscal reforms, sustainable resource management, circular economy-greening the economy, sustainable consumption and production, and sustainability standards development. He is also a trainer and practitioner of LCA, water, carbon and environmental foot print. Dean is a receiver of Life Cycle Initiative 2017 LCA Awards. He is also an expert and national delegate, contributing to the development of International Standards (EMS-ISO 14000 series); representing Uganda on ISO/TC 207/SC 1/WG 7, ISO/TC 207/SC5, ISO/TC 207/SC 5/WG11 & ISO/TC 207/SC 1/WG 8, and contributing expert to Ecosystem based Adaptation for food security in Africa Assembly (EBAFOSA) standards.

Dean is also among the Board of Directors at Forum for Sustainability through Life cycle Innovation (FSLCI). 

Dean strongly believes in sustainable solutions and the application of life cycle thinking in problem solving. 


Gordon Katwirenabo

FSMS Technical Expert and Lead Auditor  

Gordon is a FSMS Technical Expert and Lead Auditor. He is passionate professional with over six years working experience in different business segments with in Food industry and Agribusiness. He is also Certified Lead Auditor FSSC 22000- Lloyds Register London- U.K with a MSc. Nutrition & Food Sciences- University of Huddersfield –U.K after completing BSc. Agricultural Sciences Major Food Science & Technology- University of Alexandria –Egypt.

Gordon has a vast experience of the Industries in U.K, Egypt, Zambia and Uganda dealing in Steel, Dairy Products, Beverages, Biscuit and chocolate manufacture; training, auditing & Certification of ISO Systems in manufacturing. His professional postings since 2014 are; FSMS Expert & System Auditor (ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, 9001) NEMKO AS – Norway (East & Central Africa region) and Quality Assurance & Certification Officer (coffee exports) – Government of Uganda.
