Production enhancement

The action emphasizes on testing new technologies, identifying and developing local innovations and come up with solutions against constrains of productivity and utilization of food. Moreover, APOP will work on developing interventions for urban and peri-urban agriculture. APOP will therefore assign staff at programme area to facilitate learning; link the farmers with providers of inputs, technology and certain vital services and encourages CBOs to promote the tested technologies at a wider scale

Enable farmers command better income

This can be seen from two angles namely; creating market access and developing urban, peri-urban and rural entrepreneur skills. APOP will provide the maximum attention to transform the prevailing subsistence agriculture to market led production and participants generate better income.APOP would therefore provide facilities for participants’ access to better market. APOP will also promote urban, peri-urban and rural entrepreneurial skill as important interventions to generate income thereby improve the food security status of the community. Therefore, APOP provides/facilitates entrepreneurship skills, enterprise development and links them to MFIs and other service providers to diversify income and provide products for local market.

Partnership and networking

APOP perceives partnership as a continuum of relationships that fosters the sharing of resource and responsibility among two or more individuals, entities, and/ or organizations that have commonalities- joint interest, goal and objectives for mutual benefit.

APOP further committed to engage in successful partnership through developing appropriate strategy and decided to play a proactive role in reinforcing the existing partnership by revising the stated roles and responsibility for all partners.

The organization also realizes that networking is a mechanism or system of interaction or relationship between and/or among different parties with common mission. It is a free exchange of information, ideas and resources to accomplish organization goals in conditions of interdependence. Accordingly, APOP will strengthen and engage in partnership both at national and international levels.

Scaling up and out

Scaling up and out is defined as the vertical and horizontal dissemination and adoption of improved technologies and practices, respectively, with impacts and benefits over substantial areas by large number of users. Therefore, developing strategies is critical to promote successful innovations, technologies and experiences.

APOP would therefore monitor and evaluate experiences, undertake a comparative analysis, and systematize the lessons learned and document the findings. Thereby establishes partnership and network to scaling up and out of its action research approaches and results, extension systems and community-led development approaches to maximize the desired impacts.
